Creating a survey
Creating a survey
The survey-creation wizard has four steps: Content, Schedule, Distribution and Summary. In the content step you can build questions from scratch, pull individual questions from the question library (e.g. eNPS/NPS), or start from a ready-made preset that replaces the whole question list in one click (e.g. an OSA preset).
Questions in the content step are grouped into pages. Every survey has at least one page; click “+ Add page” to create more, optionally name each page (e.g. “Background”, “Follow-up”), and use the up/down arrows to reorder pages. With more than one page, every question gets a small “move to page” picker so you can move it to a different page. Deleting a page also deletes its questions — you’ll get a confirmation stating how many questions will be lost.
Each page has two settings under its title: “Require all questions” automatically makes every question on that page mandatory for the respondent (enforced on the server, not just in the browser), and “Randomize question order” shows that page’s questions in a random order to each respondent. The copy icon next to a page (“Copy page”) creates a standalone duplicate of the page and its questions right after the original — editing the copy never affects the original. Once a survey has more than one page, “Randomize page order per respondent” also appears further down the step — the first page always stays first, but the order of the remaining pages then varies per respondent.
Each question has a type: Scale 1-5, Scale 0-10 (also used for eNPS/NPS), Star rating, Yes/No, Free text, Single choice, Multiple choice, Dropdown, and Ranking. Single choice, Multiple choice, Dropdown, and Ranking all share the same answer-options editor — add at least two options and the respondent either picks one/several (choice types), picks one from a compact list (Dropdown), or orders all the options from most to least preferred (Ranking, shown as an up/down reorderable list to the respondent). Below the options editor, a read-only “Preview” shows what the respondent will actually see, laid out in two columns (options alternate evenly between the columns). For Scale 0-10 (eNPS) the preview always shows the same three groups instead — “0-6 Detractor”, “7-8 Passive”, “9-10 Promoter” — since eNPS has no options of its own to edit.
If your organization has the Matrix/rating-grid type enabled, you’ll also see it in the list: a matrix has several statements (rows) all answered against the same scale (columns), e.g. “Disagree” to “Strongly agree”. Add at least two statements and at least two scale steps — the respondent sees the whole grid as a single step in the survey and answers every row before moving on (if the question is mandatory, every row must be answered).
Every question has a collapsible “Targeting, visibility & advice” section (auto-expands if anything is already configured). There you can set who is asked the question (default: everyone) and who can see its results (default: everyone) — either by picking org-tree nodes, excluding specific nodes, or matching a rule (the same rule builder as Saved Views/Custom Filter, e.g. “Department = IT”). You can also write advice text (in Swedish and English) that’s shown automatically to managers/analysts when the question scores low in the results view — a concrete suggestion for what to do about the result.
At the top of the editor, next to Preview, there are two optional buttons (if your organization has enabled them): “Save to library” saves your entire current draft — title, description, questions and settings — as a personal template only you can see (distinct from the shared/curated question library, and listed under “My templates” on the Question library page). “Test send” (appears once the draft has been saved) sends a full, real copy of the survey to yourself or a short list of email addresses you specify — a test send’s responses never count toward the real response statistics or results view.
